Q - Can I adopt a dog or cat from a non-local BC SPCA shelter?

Yes, you can adopt a dog or cat that is in the care of a non-local BC SPCA shelter. Potential adopters must first complete the BC SPCA adoption application form and be approved. A home inspection will be done by the nearest BC SPCA branch, whenever possible and no animals will be transported until adoption fees are paid in full.

If possible, the animal can be transferred from one shelter to another using the BC SPCA Drives for Lives animal transfer program. If the transfer vans are unable to do the transfer, then the potential adopter must pay for all transport costs.
