Q - Who should I contact about injured or orphaned wildlife?

Do not attempt to care for injured or orphaned wildlife yourself – it is illegal and can cause more harm than good. Contact the BC SPCA’s Provincial Cruelty and Wildlife hotline 1-855-6BC-SPCA (1-855-622-7722) for advice on all wildlife situations and to find a local wildlife rehabilitation centre.

BC SPCA branches, with the exception of Wild ARC in Victoria, do not rehabilitate wildlife but can provide humane euthanasia for a suffering animal. A local veterinarian may also be able provide assistance although many do not have experience with wildlife. Local RCMP or the Conservation Officer Service should be contacted when adult deer/elk/moose/bear are injured on roads.
