Craig Naherniak has been with the BC SPCA creating humane education materials since 1991.
He has Sociology degree from the University of Victoria and a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from York University in Toronto. Craig's academic work focused on human/animal relationships, an analysis of cultural and historical perspectives toward nature and animals, and environmental education. Craig has a varied animal care background which includes managing a commercial hog farm and caring for a wide range of other farm animals including chickens, sheep, cattle, goats and ducks. Along with three adopted animals, a dog and two outrageously curious cats, Craig has fostered and cared for a wide range of companion animals including guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, and degus. As well as youth-based humane education programming, Craig oversees the development of companion animal care and behaviour materials and edits the Society's two magazines – Bark! and AnimalSense. Craig also participates in the Society's Animal Welfare and Advocacy committees and oversees the Society's farm animal welfare department.
