Stormy was part of a group of dogs that were taken into the care of the BC SPCA when their owner was not properly looking after all of their needs. Once in our care Stormy began her long road to recovery; she was extremely shy and terrified of any loud noises or quick movements.
With little to no socialization it would take quite some time before Stormy would be at ease in anyone’s home. While staff at the BC SPCA Abbotsford Branch worked with her daily, they saw glimmers of hope when she began to warm up to some familiar faces.
Stormy made her trip to a local veterinarian to be spayed and tattooed before being made available for adoption. Once her search for the perfect home began it only took a few weeks before she found a family that was willing to help her work on her confidence and social skills.
Stormy’s family took a moment away from spoiling her to let us know how she settled into their home.
Storm came into our lives on the Monday and you could tell that she was really unsure of everything that was going on around her. We had been told that she had been removed "from a bad situation" and had had almost no socializing or positive human interaction for most of her life (she is 2 and 1/2 years old).
Within the first 24 hours when she realized that she was now free to come and go as she pleased, inside or out, her entire behaviour began to change. We have now had her just over a week and it is really nice to watch her playing and behaving as a "normal teenager" should - which includes getting into mischief.
She still flinches at loud noises or sudden movements, and due to her early history may do so for the rest of her life, but she is now loved and well cared for - if not totally spoiled.
Pam
We’re delighted to hear that Storm has begun settling in and making herself at home with Pam and family. We would like to extend our thanks to them for making adoption their first option and for taking a chance on a sweet young girl who just needed a little extra attention.
