Local news

Olivia was found as a stray wandering around Prince George on May 10, 2011. She was picked up and brought to the BC SPCA North Cariboo Branch with hopes that she would be returned to her home shortly. Unfortunately Olivia had no forms of identification on her, so it was up to her owners to come get her, but they didn’t. So instead Olivia received a behaviour assessment so that we could learn more about her and figure out what type of home would be best for her. Olivia was best suited for a strong owner who enjoyed lots of physical activity and had no smaller animals at home.

Unfortunately Olivia was having trouble finding this great home at the North Cariboo branch, so she took a ride on the Drive for Lives program to the BC SPCA Quesnel & District Branch where she stayed for a few days before making the last leg of her journey over to the BC SPCA Burnaby Branch. Once she arrived in Burnaby she was put back up for adoption and paid a visit to a local veterinarian to be spayed and tattooed. Only two weeks after being spayed Olivia met her match in Erica who decided to adopt her. Erica has chosen Daisy to be Olivia’s new name and has also taken her to experience many new places which she loves.

Hello! Here is my happy ending story for Olivia - Now known as Daisy!

I adopted Daisy at the beginning of last summer because I knew I had a lot to offer a small companion that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to have this kind of lifestyle. I went looking for a Terrier that was scruffy and feisty, and it was love at first sight when I met Daisy. We live in Whistler, and we have lots of trails and forests right outside our door. I run the trails a lot, and always wanted to rescue a dog who would enjoy running the trails with me. Daisy LOVES the trails. There is one odd little thing that Daisy likes to do on our runs. If we come across a stream, she walks right in, takes a few sips of water, then dunks her belly just for a second. It is the funniest thing to see.

Here is a message from Daisy:
I love love love my new life! My human plays outside a lot, and I always get to go with her! We have a crazy trail outside our house that just seems to go on forever! We could play all day out there! There is snow on it right now, which is a little weird, but it doesn't stop me! I think it might even make me run faster! I love all the furry friends I get to meet in my neighbourhood, especially the ones that can play as hard as I do! I sure do love my life. There's only one thing about this life that isn't me, my human is a morning person, and I am not!

Many thanks to SPCA for taking care of Daisy until she found her forever home with me. I absolutely love her and I know she loves her life here too.
Erica

It’s so great to hear that Daisy is getting all the exercise and new experiences she could ever ask for, she really did meet her perfect match. Thank you so much to Erica for making adoption your first option and for falling in love with such a bundle of fun.
