Meet Forest and Flush, two, three-month-old albino rats. They arrived at the BC SPCA Burnaby Branch on February 17, 2017, as the result of an investigation. They can be adopted as a pair.
Forest and Flush are highly social boys looking for love. Eager to greet you in the morning, they love attention and seek it out. They’re all about their treats. Yogurt is a favourite snack. In their time at the SPCA, they’ve grown more used to being handled and picked up.
Because of their fun, outgoing personalities, rats make incredibly companions. They love to be cuddled and enjoy snuggling on their human’s shoulders.
Overall, rats are confident, enjoy interacting, and don’t sleep all day. You can teach them fun tricks, and rats can even be litter trained.
Rats live three to four years, but regular veterinarian check-ups can help extend this. Very intelligent, rats require a stimulating environment to explore and play in, which means you can have tons of fun creating cool tunnels and enclosures, or even just making them little hammocks.
