On Nov. 20, 2013, Star, a three-year-old German sheppard cross, was surrendered to the BC SPCA Cowichan & District Branch by her former owner, as she had underestimated the responsibility of caring for a dog.

Star is a volunteer favorite and walks very well on a leash. The colouring of her coat looks like that of a grizzly bear, but don't let that fool you, Star  is lovely and sweet in personality. She is missing half of one ear, which only adds to her beauty.

Initially shy, Star warms up to people very quickly and would be a loyal family member, if given the chance. She gets along with most dogs, but will require controlled introduction. We do not know how she gets along with felines.

If you have a space in your heart and home for a beautiful dog like Star, please contact the BC SPCA Cowichan & District Branch at (250) 746-4646 or To view more adoptable animals, please visit the BC SPCA Pet Search site.
