Kids writing contest to help raise awareness and funds
The Kamloops Branch of the BC SPCA invites ghosts, goblins, witches, warlocks and all other trick-or-treaters in Grades K-6 to participate in the Sit or Speak Writing Contest.
Contestants are asked to submit a story summarizing “Why I love my black or black & white cat (or any BC SPCA adopted pet)” with a minimum $2 donation per entry. Submissions can be dropped off the Kamloops Shelter at 1211 8th Street in Kamloops, before October 26.
“We want to raise awareness about the challenges of finding new homes for black or black and white animals,” states Tammy Makortoff, fundraising event coordinator for the Kamloops Branch.
“These animals are 30% more likely to stay in our care longer than our more colourful furry friends.”
In addition to helping educate the public, the branch also hopes to raise funds that will go towards providing care and protection to all homeless, injured and abused animals in their community.
