  4. Complete a Criminal Record Check

  6. Attend a buddy training session

How to apply

You can join us in advocating for animals in your community and improving the welfare of the animals in our shelters. Visit our main volunteer section page, or apply online for more information.

Requirements

  • To volunteer with the animals you must be able to volunteer a minimum two hour shift per week for at least six months.  If you are unable to meet that time commitment please consider volunteering in another capacity other than with the animals, for example events or administration.

  • You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer with the animals.

  • Attend all training sessions.

Community Council Committees

To assist the society in achieving its goals it is critical that Community Councils throughout the province are actively involved. While the BC SPCA's Board of Directors has overall responsibility for the governance and decision-making of the society, the Community Council's input to local, regional and society plans and programs is vital to our ongoing success. To learn more about community councils, visit our main governance section.
