Local news

Tucky was a sweet female cat that was found wandering around a stranger’s property in November of 2011; she was promptly brought into the BC SPCA Kelowna Branch to locate her owner. Once located, her owner signed Tucky over to the Kelowna branch as they were not able to properly care for her any longer.

Tucky went to a local veterinarian to be spayed and tattooed, but shortly after started not to feel well. After a couple more trips to the vet and several medications later Tucky was feeling much better. Tucky took all of this quite hard and became very introverted, she really needed a calm, quiet home to call her own and soon.

Happily a lovely woman came by to visit; she was looking for the cat she was meant to share her life with. That just happened to be Tucky and they have been living in harmony ever since. She wrote to share her adoption story and a few photos of Tucky (now known as Sylver) in her new home:

On December 28, 2011 I chose "Tucky" at the Kelowna SPCA. She was a little charmer, friendly, purring and willing to be held. She quickly accepted and adjusted to her new home, everyday becoming more relaxed and comfortable. She has been re-named "Sylver" because part of the time she lives on Silver Star Mountain and the name is also a play on Sylvester which some people call cats with her colouring.

She is full of energy and bounce every morning, greeting each day with lots of purring and enthusiasm. She loves to play any time of day especially with her "pounce" toy. She enjoys watching the birds and squirrels out the window as they feed at the bird feeders and also watches the skiers, dogs and everything else that walks by. She loves cuddles and quiet time. Her charming friendly ways win over all visitors and she soon has them engaged in and enjoying play time.

Sylver is such a lively friendly little kitty that I can't imagine a better companion. Thank you SPCA Kelowna for taking good care of her until I came along.

We’re very happy to know that Sylver has settled in and come into her own; we knew she would given the chance. Thank you so much for making adoption your first option and we wish you many years of entertainment and quiet time together.
