Chile was such a beautiful dog when she came into the care of the BC SPCA Kelowna Branch. An adorable face adorned with expressive eye brows, Chile was going to find a home quick.
Unfortunately Chile had some issues with fear that had prevented her from staying in homes for very long. Thankfully one day the right person came by to visit with Chile and they have been together ever since.
Chile was adopted in 2004 or 2005….can’t quite remember. It was her 2nd or 3rd time to the Kelowna SPCA. Hard to believe that too. She is what I fondly call an All Canadian. A little bit of everything. A larger dog, some terrier (great mouser) Maybe some shepard….no one seems to know and each vet swears she has a little bit of “that” breed, or the other. She has eyebrows that wiggle with her expressions and blow in the wind.
When I brought Chile home I soon discovered she was petrified of men. She would try so hard to be protective, but hid behind me while doing it. She would cower. It took some love, but that is no longer an issue.
Chile has been through so many life changing events with me. The death of both of my parents, eye surgery, so many things. I realised that she had finally adopted me when she did truly start to protect me. If she felt I was threatened she would place herself calmly between me and the danger.
The picture is from a while ago. She is a little more grey, but still has the spring of a well-loved dog. Recently I have had another life change. Selling my home and my children and I moving into a suite. Near impossible to find a suite that takes animals. I waited and stressed and waited. No way was Chile going back to the SPCA. I found a place. Big back yard which the owners will fence for me…for my protector.
Chile has her forever home, in my heart, in my life. Philippa
