Nanaimo BC SPCA 2012 calendars now on sale!
This beautiful calendar is full of a menagerie of much loved local pets and is sponsored by many local animal loving businesses. Watch CTV's special feature on this calendar!
The staff and volunteers of the Nanaimo Branch would like to thank Dr. Paddy Mark for putting this calendar together and doing such an incredible job.
This is a massive job year round and if not for Dr. Mark, Nanaimo would not have anywhere near a calendar of such popularity. Last year the calendar raised $15,000 for the homeless, neglected and abused animals in our community. Thanks to Dr. Mark, the volunteers and of course supporters who were involved in making this such a huge success for the 2nd year in a row!
Dr. Mark included a foreword in the calendar that touched the staff and is shared here for all animal lovers to enjoy.
For the second year, it has been my pleasure and privilege to work with Nanaimo BC SPCA to produce The Pet Calendar. BC SPCA is the organization and I am the volunteer, but this calendar owes its existence to literally hundreds of donors from our community and beyond who have sent me photographs and cheques so that together we can create a truly wonderful and beautiful fundraiser.
I have heard a lot of heartwarming stories about animals rescued from terrible circumstances and taken into loving homes, homes which they have filled with unconditional love and devotion. I have watched young farms animals thrive under kindly and caring conditions. I have been fortunate enough to connect with volunteers from other animal welfare organizations and have learned about the great work being done for abandoned parrots and feral cats in different communities.
Behind all these stories are dedicated people, just like those at the BC SPCA in our local Nanaimo Branch. All our animal welfare organizations depend heavily on volunteers and donors like you. And our animals depend on your donations to keep them housed and fed and healthy until they find new homes. This is how your donations are spent, every penny, and the animals are grateful from their whiskers to their tails.
So THANK YOU! Thank you for the great photographs and encouraging messages, and for the extra money so many of you included in your donation. Thank you for keeping me so busy that this calendar is FULL! I have a wait list for 2013, so for special dates, get in touch and I'll book you in.
Thank you to all the staff at the BC SPCA who work so hard to protect these animals in need. I know how many people in this community are dedicated to making our small part of the planet a finer and kinder place, and I am grateful to be able to be a part of this.
This Calendar would not have happened without a lot of help from my husband, Mark Nixon, whose computer skills I relied on daily. Daryl at Printcraft did a wonderful job as always. Quality Foods, that great corporate community supporter was very generous in buying a full page ad. Last but not least, many, many thanks must go to those who volunteered to spread the word, put up posters and generally encouraged me to keep going even when I was a bit overwhelmed. Bless you all.
I will be in touch for the Pet Calendar of 2013! Until then, take care and keep up the good work with your beloved creatures.
