Local news

Cola came in originally as a stray to the BC SPCA North Peace Branch in May 2011; she had no identification and still had yet to be spayed. When no one came to claim this lovely young girl she was brought to a local veterinarian to be spayed and receive a fancy new tattoo that would help identify her if she was ever found wandering the streets again.

A month after being spayed, Cola found a home that everyone thought would be a great match; unfortunately a couple weeks later she was brought back. It turned out that Cola was acting quite fearful in their home and they just weren’t prepared to deal with an issue like that.

After a few months and no suitable homes available for Cola she was put into foster care. Here she would work on her fear issues and we would be able to learn more about her in a home environment. What was meant to be temporary soon became permanent.

Ladner was a handsome adult dog who had also been picked up as a stray and brought to the North Peace Branch in November 2011. It was a particularly cold winter and no time for a dog to be running around outdoors lost.

A very affectionate guy who was gentle and easy going, Ladner would do well in almost any home. He went into foster care where he met his new best friend Cola. They have since both been adopted by their lovely foster family who has written us a quick note to let us know how they are.

Cola had been at the shelter for quite a long time, and after her mom Dolly was transferred and adopted, she started to act out, and that is when I fostered her. Ladner was unclaimed by his family, and during the really cold month of November, we fostered him.

They have both been a joy to have, and are wonderful dogs, who love each other.

Even though Cola and Ladner didn’t know each other prior to being in the care of the BC SPCA North Peace Branch, we’re so happy to know they have since hit it off in their loving new forever home. Thank you to their great new family for stepping up to help care for these two and for choosing to adopt both of them.
