Meow! More happy cats in B.C.

Local news

Tanooki was barely a few months old when he was surrendered to the BC SPCA North Peace Branch in December 2011. He was part of an unwanted litter that occurred due to their mum not being spayed. Tanooki was a lovely young cat who seemed to know his manners right off the bat.

It only took Tanooki ten days of being available for adoption before he found his perfect new family.

Tanooki has been a wonderful addition to our home! My boyfriend got him for me as a Christmas present and he was only about 3 months old when we got him and in the last three months or so since then, his personality has really come out!

There were a total of five kittens in his litter and he definitely chose us! He was the most social cat and didn't use his claws while playing with us. He is very affectionate, social and sweet. He loves to cuddle and just be around people.

When he plays, he never uses his claws or his teeth on hands - only on his toys. He has learned to ride around on people's shoulders like a parrot and has been successfully toilet trained! No kitty litter required in this household.

Tanooki has wobbly eyes and we have discovered that perhaps as a result of this, his eye sight isn't very good so he will remain an indoor cat for his life. He gets lots of stimulation and really doesn't seem much interested in the outside world.

When my boyfriend's brother and his girlfriend moved in with us, we were worried that the cat dander would upset his brother's allergies but as it turns out, we had unknowingly adopted a hypoallergenic cat! His favourite pastime is getting his tummy tickled. I'm sure Tanooki will continue to be a gift in our life. He has so much to give and is the source of so much laughter and happiness in our family.

How wonderful that Tanooki has settled into his new life and even embraced what could be a difficult change for many creatures of comfort. We wish Kat and Chris a great life with Tanooki and want to thank them dearly for making adoption their first option.
