Troy was a bit of a local celebrity when he was brought to the BC SPCA Alberni-Clayoquot Branch as a stray in April 2012. He had been hanging around a local store for quite some time and everyone thought it was time to find him a real home where he could be inside and enjoy the company of a loving family.
With no identification and yet to be neutered, Troy made a quick trip to a local veterinarian to have these quick and simple procedures done. Once recovered Troy made a valiant effort at finding a home, but for some reason no one was interested.
Black cats can be more difficult to find homes for as many people are superstitious or prefer a more colourful cat. What many don’t know is that there are many benefits to having a black cat become a part of your family, for instance they never look dirty, or how they always look presentable on formal occasions.
Lucky for Troy he was an excellent candidate for The Drive for Lives program and he made his way to the BC SPCA Parksville-Qualicum Beach & District Branch in June. Within a couple weeks Troy was spotted by someone who had known him from his previous life and wanted to bring him home.
Troy now has a great family who cares for deeply for him, they have even taken the time to write us on how everyone is doing.
Hi There,
My name is Laura, I adopted Troy (Leonidas) from the Parksville SPCA on the 10th of July, 2012. I met Leo when he was still called Troy and was living at the Buckerfield's Store in Parksville.
He was so sweet and I returned to visit him 2 or 3 times. I decided he needed to come and live with us. My family consisted of me, my husband, Ty, my two dogs, Jake and Rocky and my cat, Faisal Rey.
Leo fits right in. The dogs love him, and he's been very respectful to Faisal. He is quite the character and has made himself right at home!
I am so glad we adopted this sweet kitty, and I am glad he is so happy to be in our family!
Laura, Ty, Jake, Rocky, Faisal Rey, and Leonidas
How wonderful that Leonidas went from a stray to being a part of a large new family. We’re happy he has fit right in and would like to thank Laura and Ty for making adoption their first option.
