Townsite Brewing crafts fine brew and plenty of bucks for the Powell River SPCA
Powell River has been buzzing ever since a craft brewery opened its doors in the original area of the city now known as Townsite. Appropriately, the company’s name is Townsite Brewing, and their on-site crafted beers can be found in pubs and restaurants around town.
Not only are the people of Powell River benefiting from the new company, but so are the animals. Townsite Brewing offers its beer for sale in large serving bottles, as well as refillable jugs called Growlers. Every month, Townsite Brewing donates $1 from the sale of every Growler to a local charity or non-profit organization. In the month of June 2012, the Powell River SPCA was the recipient of their donation in the amount of $265.
Chloe Smith, the Brewery Manager, was happy to provide BC SPCA volunteer Roselyn Boarman with a tour of the brewing rooms where vats of craft beer were being made. “The Growlers are really popular”, Chloe noted, and we agree. Supporting a good cause never tasted so good!
