WHAT'S HAPPENING

Sharing is caring

Kind hearts and generous spirits run in the Welp-Ellis family, as proven by sisters Abigail and Danielle.

In 2011, Abigail turned 5 years old and Danielle turned 3.  Both girls decided that instead of birthday gifts, they would ask their friends and family to bring donations for the BC SPCA Powell River Branch to their parties.

Abigail’s friends donated $103, and Danielle’s friends donated $85, for a combined total of $188!  Abigail also put her creativity to work by painting some pictures to give to the SPCA showing her love of animals.  Both girls were excited to be able to help animals in Powell River find forever homes, just as their own dog Gryphon (a rescued Stratfordshire Bull Terrier) has found his forever home with them.

Abigail and Danielle are two amazing examples of children in Powell River who raise money to give abandoned, abused and neglected animals another chance.  Over the 2011 year, kids in Powell River raised $1902.77 for the BC SPCA!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
