Local news

Cyrus was a scruffy young pup who was found wandering the streets of Williams Lake in May 2010. Once picked up and brought to the BC SPCA Williams Lake Branch he received lots of cozy blankets, fresh water, and tasty food which he gobbled up right away.

When no one came to claim this handsome little boy he took a quick trip to a local veterinarian to be neutered and micro chipped, this way if he ever found himself lost again we would be able to reunite him with his family.

Once recovered, Cyrus took a ride on The Drive for Lives program to help maximize his chances for adoption. He arrived at the BC SPCA Kamloops Branchin hopes of finding a home there, but it seemed that no one there wanted a cute young dog.

Cyrus took one more ride on The Drive for Lives to the BC SPCA Richmond Education & Adoption Centre Branch and wouldn’t you know it he was adopted just days later. His loving family has written us about his name change and how he has since enriched their lives.

Hello,

We adopted our lovely and crazy little guy Messi (name at time of adoption was Cyrus) in early 2010. We named him Messi because our home is full of soccer fans and it was fitting that he made our house a complete mess and our favorite player is Lionel Messi from Argentina.

We saw his adoption posting online but he was all the way in Kamloops. He was transferred over to Richmond where we rushed over with our other dog, Rocky, to meet him and see if they could be forever friends. Lucky us, they got along well and we arranged to take him home with us asap.

He has the most hilarious personality ever, he almost makes us believe that he must have been a human in another life. Messi is the most loving and playful dog and will become your instant best friend if you let him.

The first picture I have attached is one of him when we brought him home, the second picture is of him rolling around in the grass and the third picture is of him and his best friend Rocky taking an afternoon nap.

We will love him forever and could not imagine life without him.

Sometimes it just takes a little bit of moving around to find just where you’re supposed to be in life. It really does look like Messi and Rocky were meant to be best friends, we’re so happy that they bonded so quickly and easily. Thank you to his new family for opening their hearts and home to this wonderful little guy.
