Local news

Franko, a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback-cross puppy, was surrendered to the BC SPCA Shuswap Branch in December 2012 with three of his siblings because his family had more animals than they could care for.

Outgoing and possessing a positive personality, Franko was a hit among staff and volunteers. Within weeks he found himself being welcomed into a home not just for the Christmas holidays, but for life. Two years have almost passed and his family has taken the time to fill us in on how he’s been doing.

As promised attached are some pictures of Beaudeck taken this past Christmas Eve. His original name was Franko, a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Rottweiler cross that I adopted Christmas Eve 2010 after having to put down my 16 year old Weimarner that same day.

Beaudeck saved my Christmas! (My dad had died in August - around the same week we figure Beaudeck was born, according to his records.)

As you can see Beaudeck is a handsome fellow with oodles of personality. He is very head strong and a little too smart for his own good and needed a firm hand during the training process but this did not come as a surprise because I was familiar with the Ridgeback.

Beaudeck has the sweetest nature of any dog I have ever had which gives his hyperness a bit of balance. He participates in every (and I mean EVERY) thing my mother or I do inside or out.

Beaudeck is a head tilter, when you talk to him he tilts his head trying to understand every single word you say. We love him dearly, he completes our family.

Thanks for being there for those of us looking for additions to our family and thanks for being there for the animals and giving them a chance to find a good loving home. Enjoy the pictures. One of my favorite pictures is the one with Beaudeck on my 82 year old mother's lap watching TV.

What a handsome young dog Beaudeck grew up to be. We’re all very happy to know he settled in quite nicely and is now helping out around the home. Thank you to his entire new family for making adoption your first option and giving Beaudeck the second chance at a great life.
