Hawk was brought into the BC SPCA Shuswap & District Branch on June 2, 2011 with his six siblings as their owner was no longer able to care for them. Sadly, they weren’t the only ones to come in to Shuswap’s care; it had been determined that the owner was a hoarder. Their living environments were not being kept up to standards, but thankfully the owner made the decision to rehome the cats. Hawk was friendly with other cats and loved to snuggle, he was definitely not going to be hanging around for long!
Hawk was so lucky, on June 30 a lovely woman came by to adopt a Manx specifically and there he was. Hawk fell in love quite quickly and it was determined that they would be a great match together. That very day he was brought home by his new parent and we just received a note keeping us updated on his new adventures.

I was looking for a Manx to adopt from the SPCA. As it turns out, there were 4 or 5 available at the SPCA on the day that I visited. The decision was obvious; Hawk ‘picked’ me and pretty much won my heart on the spot! He is the second Manx I’ve ever owned, and he is a one of a kind. I jokingly call him a cross between a cat and a dog. I have him trained to come when he’s called. He lives life to the fullest. He enjoys his days outside on my farm, climbing trees, galloping around at full speed, exploring every nook and cranny, and getting as near as he dares to my horses. He is so joyful and full of himself, that he makes me laugh several times a day! He is inside during his ‘dusk to dawn curfew’, so that he is safe from coyotes during their witching hour. However, as soon as it is daylight, he’s raring to go outside to seek new adventures. He is a wonderful companion and I am so lucky that I found him at the SPCA. Hawk’s got personality to spare! Thanks to the dedicated staff at the SPCA for all their hard work and their willingness to spend the time to help me find the perfect match! Regards, Ilona

It is so great to hear that Hawk is enjoying his newfound space and places to explore. We were so happy to see him and many of his other siblings perking up in their new forever homes. Thank you so much to Ilona for making adoption your first option and for giving a second chance to a cat who really needed the one on one attention.
