Indigo (aka Indy) came to the BC SPCA Shuswap Branch on September 16, 2011 through the Cruelty Investigations Department. When he arrived, it was apparent that he was not socialized properly and had some fear issues. He also suffered from an untreated flea allergy which left him basically bald.
At the shelter, Indy received the proper medical care he needed to treat his flea condition and soon, his true beauty was shining through.
He also received training and regular walks from the shelter’s head volunteer dog walker, who also helped him overcome his aversion to cars. To give Indy a break from shelter life, this wonderful volunteer decided to let Indy stay with her “temporarily.”
However, that was when it all started - or we should say - ended. Indy ended up being permanently adopted by his foster mom.
Although he is still working on some fear issues, he is fitting into his home perfectly. He gets to go to the doggy park on a regular basis and enjoys running around the neighborhood with his new dad beside the golf cart. He is also participating in agility and obedience classes and is thriving with these new challenges.
We are extremely thrilled that this “break” from the shelter ended up with Indy being adopted into his forever home. We are so grateful for the support we receive from members of our community who go out of their way to help, love, and adopt our many shelter animals.
