Uncle Maximus

ID: 227417

Adopted!

July 20, 2011 update

Congratulations to Maximus! Our big teddy bear of a guy was adopted today by a loving new family from Abbotsford. To find out how he's doing now, read Maximus' Happy Ending.

June 20, 2011

Maximus was named in honour of his large size. Look close and you'll see that Maximus is actually a small cat with a large volume of gloriously long fur that makes him look much bigger.

He is one strong-willed kitty with a very big heart.

Poor Maximus was found homeless and injured in Salmon Arm on February 16, 2011. A few compassionate members of the community came to the rescue and brought him to the BC SPCA Shuswap Branch. When he arrived, a preliminary exam found that he was suffering with a possible broken leg, a few bite wounds and was understandly exhausted and depressed. While Max was healing, he showed off his snuggly and wonderful personality. Thanks to the support of generous donors and volunteers, he is now fully recovered and feeling much better.

At first, Maximus would not walk on his injured leg. But, with a little patience and gentle encouragement, he gets around quickly and with confidence. He cannot wait to hop up on the window sill to see what exciting things are outside. Max will likely always have a limp and he will need a little extra love and care than the average kitty.

Maximus also loves kittens. He takes on the role of  'mother hen' to the younger cats in the shelter. He enjoys bathing, cuddling and protecting his smaller feline friends. Since discovering his nurturing personality, staff have given him the nickname, "Uncle Max".

This sweet guy with the sensitive side deserves a safe and loving home. Everyone agreeds that he has already used up too many of his nine lives. So, if you can provide Max with a calm, cuddly, indoor environment, please drop by to meet him and complete an adoption application today.

PS.  Uncle Max would love to bring a kitten with him to his new forever home. Visit spca.bc.ca/adoptme to search online today.
