Chester was going through a very tough time when he was brought to the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch; his owner had just passed away and there was no one left to look after him. We first met Chester on October 10, 2011 and he was lovely right off the bat, although initially shy he would warm up quite quickly. Chester knew all his commands and enjoyed spending time with both dogs and cats; his owner had done a great job of showing Chester how to be the best dog possible. He was already just over seven years old and everyone was a little bit worried that he might take longer to adopt; many people overlook what perfect companions senior animals are.
Back in September 2011 staff and volunteers were at our signature event, the Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause... Walk for the Animals where they met a branch alumnus. Molly was now 20 years old, still in great health and was as happy as can be. She had just sent her human children off to college and was the apple of her family’s eye.
Chester was fortunate enough to become a part of Molly and her family’s life and is now living in the lap of luxury with all of them. It really does look like these two alumni are kicking back and relaxing just as they deserve.
