Night was given her name due to her lustrous black coat, although it didn’t start out looking like that. One October day in 2011, Night and five other cats appeared on a person’s property in Penticton. As this person had never seen these cats before and they appeared to have been abandoned, they kindly brought the six cats in to the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch. All cats were in need of medical attention and were not yet spayed or neutered.
Night spent some time in a foster home to help her become the healthy cat everyone knew she could be given the proper care. She was still a fairly young cat, barely a year it seemed and yet she was already without a forever home.
It took a few months, but Night soon found a home that suited her and had everything she was looking for. Her new family wrote to share an update:
Hello! We love our little Shima (formerly Night). She is so sweet, loving and playful. Our Taz whom also was adopted from the South Okanagan SPCA (10 years ago) is not too sure about this new member of our family but we know he will get to love her also, it will just take some time and patience. Thanks to everyone at the SPCA!!! Bev & Joseph
We’re happy to hear that Bev and Joseph chose to make adoption their first and second option; they were even kind enough to send us a picture of both Shima and Taz.
