Local news

After arriving at the BC SPCA Kamloops Branch in March, 2012 as a stray, shelter staff traced Lizzy's tattoo to her original owners and they discovered that Lizzy had been given away in an online ad and now her new owner no longer wanted her either. To help give her a better chance at finding her forever home, Lizzy was transferred to the BCSPCA Sunshine Coast branch via the Drive for Lives program.

Once she arrived on the Sunshine Coast it didn't take too long for Lizzy to find herself a new home. Lizzy was a lovely girl who had a non-stop purr and enjoyed a scratch behind the ears.

A woman named Patricia spotted Lizzy on the BC SPCA Pet Search site and caught the ferry over to meet her at the Sunshine Coast Branch. It turned out to be a purrr-fect match, so Lizzy went home with Patricia that day, back to North Vancouver. Patricia has dropped us a line with an update, and Lizzy, now know as Lucy, seems to have settled right in!

Hi, I thought I'd drop you a line to tell you how wonderful this adoption has gone. My son and I adopted Lizzie on 2012-06-06. I renamed her Lucy and it's gotten better each day. She doesn't like being transported in a carrier. She meows loudly all the time she's in it. Thankfully we only used it for her check-up since the long ride home.

Lucy has made my home her home. She has completely taken over. She has no less than 6 favourite sleeping spots, but mostly she likes sleeping on my bed with me. The balcony has been no problem - she doesn't seem very curious about it. I have taken her out with a leash, but she's not that keen.

Your centre seemed so caring and compassionate that I know you'll be happy to hear about this successful adoption.
Keep up the wonderful work you do there.

Patricia

Thank you Patricia, we are excited to hear that Lucy has found her forever home and we look forward to hearing more stories of her progress.
