Mavis was almost a fixture at the Sunshine Coast Branch after spending almost 9-months in care patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) waiting for a home; gaining lots of friends along the way who quietly rooted for her every time some one entered the Communal Rooms looking for a new companion.
It took many months, but Mavis never gave up hope during that time . . . .though she did become a bit tired of getting up and greeting people so started just waiting for people to notice her instead. Mavis did find her new home this past June much to the excitement of shelter employees and volunteers alike!
Mavis (now named Boston) is settling in well and her new people have sent a few pictures and an update on how she is doing.

Thanks for calling to check on Mavis. Mavis (now Boston) is doing great! We took her to the vet a couple days after we got her home because we were concerned about her cough and her weight. The vet said the cough was probably no big deal but that she had put on a lot of weight since he had last seen her so now she’s on a diet (poor thing!). We’ve noticed that now that she’s comfortable and feeling at home, though, she is eating a normal amount and is running up and down the stairs, and toning up.
She’s a sweetheart! I’ve attached a couple of pictures. She and Tilly (our other cat) are still figuring out their relationship with each other but Boston is so easy going that it is working well. She never hisses or scratches or acts aggressively. I even caught them sleeping within a foot of each other this morning.
We’re very happy to have her as part of the family. Suzette
