Rufus is a rather large and distinguished cat who first found himself at the Sunshine Coast Branch in October 2011 after a baby arrived and Rufus was subsequently evicted from the only home he had ever known.
After looking for a home for several months Rufus was adopted and spent three wonderful weeks in a new home before sadly finding himself back at the Sunshine Coast Branch, again due to no fault of his own; turns out his new person was allergic to cats.
Large in size, Rufus is nevertheless a gentle cat who kept to himself in the shelter communal room, tip toeing around the other cats, not wanting to cause any problems. He was not only good with other cats at the shelter, he was also fine with the dog in his short lived adoptive home. In fact, Rufus is a bit like a dog himself as he will come trotting over when you call his name and then follow you around.
A calm, cool, easy going, gentle and quiet cat, Rufus still waited over six months for a new home. Fortunately it was well worth the wait; we received the following Happy Ending from Rufus (note the pictures were taken while he was still at the Sunshine Coast Branch).
Hi Everyone,

Just an update on my new home. Roy & Rayana are petty good, nice meals, warm bed, Oh yes I get to sleep on Rayana's bed and have snuggles. Charlie is the other cat they have here and he is getting use to having me around. At first Charlie would hiss but he is all talk and no action. I tell him to "get over it" and he wonders off. Charlie is even coming around. He will play with me, but still has a hard time of it when I play with him. I will get him around my paw yet! Got my teeth fixed as soon as I got moved in with Roy & Rayana. I feel so much better.
This is the life I have always wanted. Food, Love cuddles and brushing. This is a cats life. Hoping everyone there finds their life home as I have. Rufus
It is heart warming to know that Rufus finally found love, companionship and a forever home. We too hope that the other homeless cats in our care find their special people as he did.
