WHAT'S HAPPENING

Jethro

ID: 237176

Adopted!

Jethro is a six-year-old Labrador Retriever who was rescued from a property near Hope, B.C. on June 11, 2011. BC SPCA cruelty investigators found him, along with several other dogs, suffering from neglect. The dogs did not have access to proper housing and spent most of their days in a wire pen outside.

When he first arrived at the BC SPCA Sunshine Coast Branch, Jethro was nervous and apprehensive. For most of his life, he has been isolated from people and every day things we take for granted. The ringing of a phone, images and sounds on TV or even just seeing his reflection in a window were all new and a little scary for poor Jethro.

BC SPCA staff and volunteers have been explosing Jethro to new situations. He's learning how to walk on leash, get into a vehicle, meet new people and respond to clicker training.

Still a bit shy with strangers, Jethro is food-motivated and can be won over with a tasty treat. He's a bit of a ladies man with female dogs but hasn't had a chance to get to know many new male furry friends yet. He loves to play and does well with a canine companion who has the same enthusiasm and energy level because Jethro likes a little rough and tumble play.

This brave young guy has come along in leaps and bounds since arriving and is now ready to join the world. His new family will be dog-savvy and experienced. His guardians must commit to continually introducing him to new people, things and experiences as keeping up with his training. Patience and time to work with Jethro will be an important part of your new partnership and friendship. And of course, Jethro should be made an important part of the family and home instead of being left in a wire pen outside. He deserves so much more.

If you would like to know more about this friendly, affectionate and handsome fellow, please contact the Sunshine Coast branch or stop by and meet Jethro today.
