In March 2011, Lightening found himself at the
BC SPCA Kamloops Branch. His previous owners surrendered him as they felt they had too many cats.

After waiting several months for a home in Kamloops, Lightening was transferred to the BC SPCA Sunshine Coast Branch on the Drive for Lives program, in hopes that the move will help him find a new home.

A large cat, Lightening truly is a gentle giant and can be a bit shy at first; once he arrived on the Sunshine Coast, it took a couple of weeks before Lightening felt comfortable enough to venture down from the bed he had claimed on top of the introduction cages in the communal room.

Lightening then gradually moved down onto one of the cat perches, then slowly ventured further down from there. A quiet and none intrusive cat, Lightening waits for you to notice him. Once you start petting him, he leans right in, softly purring the whole time.

While in the communal room Lightening never made a sound, but recently he was moved into a smaller room with one other cat, and we’ve discovered that Lightening likes to chat. Not a lot, and not continuously, but when he first sees you he will give a few tiny meows and trot over to greet you.

Because he is so quiet, shy and relaxed, Lightening has been overlooked by potential adopters. He requires a home where he will be given time to settle in and not be expected to be the life of the party. If you are looking for a low key furry companion, Lightening may be the cat for you!
