Oreo

Adopted!

Oreo is a beautiful, velvety black and white 5 year old Rex cross bunny. Oreo has been in the care of the BC SPCA Trail Regional Branch since Dec 30, 2011.

She was originally a little girls pet, perhaps bought as a gift, but sadly as the girl grew, Oreo’s novelty wore off, with her cage eventually being moved to their garage. Fast forward to now, and Oreo’s family no longer wanted to care for her, so she was surrendered. Her story really shows how important it is for any family wanting a rabbit for their child, that the parents most likely will become that rabbits guardian and that they will be the ones to care for that animal for its whole life (up to 12 years), not just a few years when the child still thinks the animal is “cool”.

Currently, Oreo is using a litter box and seems to enjoy treats and time out of her kennel. We hope that her new home gives her more time out of her cage, and more time with her new human caregivers, helping her to be more confident in regards to people.

She is fine around cats, but is scared of dogs, which is reasonable for her, since she is a prey animal, and dogs appear to her as predators.
