Steps to become a BC SPCA volunteer

  1. Complete an application

  2. Attend an Information Session

  3. Attend an Interview

  4. Attend a Workshop (or DVD training session)

  5. Attend a buddy training session

Shelter animal foster care program

Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster parent. The Vancouver shelter is not currently accepting new applicants. Please check back soon for the next intake date. Thank you.

Requirements

  • To volunteer with the animals you must be able to volunteer a minimum two hour shift per week for at least six months.  If you are unable to meet that time commitment please consider volunteering in another capacity other than with the animals, for example events or administration.

  • You must be at least 19 years of age to volunteer with the animals. 

  • Attend all training sessions.
