On August 29, 2011 staff at the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch arrived to work to discover two kittens cruelly abandoned at their front gate in a crate with no food or water. Sadly this is a situation that happens fairly often, but even worse was the fact that the crate was already quite hot from sitting in the hot summer sun. Neither kitten had any forms of identification nor had anyone seen who dropped these poor little girls off.
After making sure their health was as best as it could possibly be, Kash was taken to a local veterinarian to be spayed and tattooed for the benefit of her soon-to-be forever family. It didn’t take long for a family to fall for Kash, her beautiful features and lovely personality won over Jeff and Pat when they came for a visit. Kash has been adjusting nicely to her new life which even includes a kitty friend to play with. Her new caregivers wrote to share an update:
We adopted Kash from the Vernon SPCA branch September 23, 2011 as a friend for Ginger, our 4 year old cat. We had had to put Skunk (our 19 ½ year old kitty) down a couple of months prior to adopting Kash due to his health, and Ginger needed a buddy.
The first few days were interesting, as the 2 cats got used to each other, but they are now best buddies. You can hear the thunder of 8 paws charging through the house as they play tag, and if you’re sitting on the wrong spot on the sofa, you tend to get run over.
Pat has had to learn to type with Kash on the keyboard as she has adopted Pat as “her” person, and has to be with Pat constantly, with Kash’s favourite place for sleeping being on the keyboard when Pat is at the computer.
Kash also loves cantaloupe, and will actually fetch a toy mouse when we throw it. She got her new harness yesterday, as she will be like Ginger and travelling with us in the trailer. She loves cuddling, and once is cleared, will be going to visit Pat’s Mom on a regular basis as a pet therapy kitty.
She is a great addition to our family, and is so loving, we’re glad she chose us when we went to the SPCA.
Jeff and Pat
Thank you to Jeff and Pat for opening your hearts back up to a cat that deserved a second chance at a perfect life. It sounds as though she has settled very nicely and will help keep your keyboard warm for many years to come.
