Marley came to the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch when she was picked up as a stray by animal control. No one had come to claim her so she went up for adoption in hopes of finding a great new home.
Being all black can make it a bit more difficult for an animal to be adopted, but with Marley’s age being the lucky number seven we figured it was even. She was spayed and tattooed shortly after coming into Vernon’s care so that if she ever got away again her family would be able to find her.
Marley was a wonderful dog; easy-going, cuddly, always game for a walk, and most of all extremely loving. She could be a bit shy at times, but would get over it quite quickly. Just over a month after coming into the shelter Marley came upon a family that loved her dearly. She has been treasured ever since that day and they have written to tell us of her adventures.
Marley has been doing really well in her new home. She still gets stressed and pees on the floor sometimes, but seems to get more comfortable every week. After a couple minor incidents the first week, the kids began to grow on Marley and now she loves to gets hugs and attention from then (even with our 3 year old gives a little too much love!).
As a senior dog, Marley prefers to spend much of her day curled up on her pillow, but is also up for a rousing game of chase when we are playing outside. She's even starting to figure out how to play catch!
Our 4 year old, Adam, has become very special friends with Marley and takes his duties of feeding her, playing with her, and letting her outside very seriously.
Thank you so much for caring for Marley as she took her journey from a stray to the newest member of our family!
What a great way for Marley to spend her days; lounging with a family that truly loves her. Thank you to her new family for choosing adoption as your first option.
