Petra was surrendered to the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch in May, 2016 because her previous guardians were travelling and unfortunately Petra was unable to join.
Petra is a sweet and loving girl that gets on with everybody. She spent most of her days at the branch curled up on her doggie pillow waiting for someone to give her a belly rub.
Petra wasn’t at the branch too long before her new guardians fell in love with her and knew they had to take Petra home. It’s now been six months since Petra was adopted and her new family has sent us this update:
My dog Petra was adopted from the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch on June 3, 2016.
I have been a volunteer dog walker at this branch since November, 2014. It was on a shift of dog walking that I noticed this sweet little girl wandering around the office. I was instantly attracted to her and went home to discuss the possibility of adopting Petra with my husband. We adopted Petra the next day.
Petra is six-years-old and loves children, dogs, cats and any person that she meets. She loves her daily walks and has excellent leash manners. She is excellent off leash as well and always sticks by our side. Petra barks happily when we come back home from an outing. She loves to bring her soft toys to us and play fetch.
Petra suffered from some separation anxiety when we first got her. It didn't take long for her to figure out though that we would always be coming home to her.
Petra may not have been in cars very much. When we first got her she would tremble during car rides. Now, she happily looks out of the window with the breeze against her face.
Petra is 10.6 pounds of absolute sweetness and it is wonderful to have her in our lives.
It’s fantastic to hear that Petra is doing great and settling in well. Thank you so much for all your volunteer work and for making adoption your first choice. We’re so happy Petra got the second chance she so deserved for a new life with a loving family.
