Woof! More happy dogs in B.C.

Local news

Cypress is a delightful puppy that came into the care of the BC SPCA Victoria Branch as his owners had too many dogs in the home and couldn’t look after them all. So on November 20, 2011 Cypress and ten other puppies were surrendered to the Victoria SPCA. It was a lot of puppies to care for, but staff were confident they could find the fur-ever homes they needed.

After only a couple weeks of being at the shelter, Cypress was matched to just the right family. Cypress wrote in (with some help from his new family), to share how he is now thriving in their care.

Hi everyone, just wanting to let you all know that I love my new home. Irene and Pat were kind enough to welcome me to their hobby farm in Shawnigan Lake, B. C.

They call me adorable and love me to pieces. I go everywhere in the truck with them. They harness me in and I love to sleep in the truck. While at home, we play with my toys, I get to have treats when called and I have finally trained my new mom and dad to when I have to go outside to do my business.

Other favorite pastimes are watching the salt water fish, cats, TV (especially if there are dogs on it) and sleeping on the couch with Mom after play time. Mom and Dad have horses and I love one of the mini’s. His name is Teki and he is very little. I kiss his face lots.

I have been to the vet because I woke up on the third day with a stuffy nose. I had to take medicine for 10 days but I am feeling great and I loved the cheese that mom put the medicine in.

There are two other rescue dogs in the house with me. One is 16 years old and she likes me. The other is 4 1/2 years old. Mom said that she came from the Victoria shelter too! Her name is Keisha and I look a lot like her except I am a boy. I try to nurse from her sometimes but there is no milk. She loves to watch over me. I like to chew on her toes but Mom says NO.

Dad is my owner and he is so good to me. He talks to me and plays with me. We will go to Salt Spring Island for three days a week when I get bigger, so that I can keep Dad company on the long nights. Then we will come back home.

I hope that all animals in shelters will find a great home with people to take great care of them and spend many hours a day looking after them. I am lucky because Mom is home all the time. If she has to go somewhere, I go with her.

Happy days,
Cypress

It’s very comforting to hear how well Cypress is doing and how much adventure she now has in her life. Thank you so much to Irene and Pat for making the BC SPCA your first adoption option and for giving this little girl so many great experiences to help guide her in life.
