Too Much of A Good Thing!

An SPCA Kid's Event

On Sunday, March 21st, kids of all ages are invited to the Victoria SPCA located at 3150 Napier Lane.

Join us anytime between 1 and 3 pm in the gym to make chocolate bunnies, "lost sock" rabbit sculptures, learn the basics of pet photography in the small animal room and help create a special animal action art piece that will be displayed at a real art gallery! 

March's Kid's Day theme is Too Much of a Good Thing: help stop pet overpopulation. It will focus on rabbits and cats and the issues that lead to out of control populations. Use your imagination to help get the word out about pet overpopulation!

At this event Kids will be able to:

  • help get the word out in the wider community about pet overpopulation
  • make "Lost Sock" rabbit sculptures
  • make chocolate bunnies
  • meet some of our special animals at the SPCA
  • enter to win cool prizes
  • meet other kids who are interested in animals
  • learn about upcoming kids activities at the SPCA.
  • contribute your own creations to an SPCA kids art show at the Ministry of Casual Living Art Gallery on Haultain St.

Please use the gym entrance at the back of the shelter. Parent attendance is required.

A $10 donation is suggested.

Join us for a gala evening benefiting the BC SPCA Victoria Branch!

Guests will enjoy the sweet, savory, subtle and sublime...a near endless sampling of the most incredible creations by Vancouver Island’s top pastry chefs and dessert makers.

This special evening will take place on Saturday, March 13th at “A” British Columbia  whose studios will be transformed into lounge and dessert sampling venues specially set up for mixing, mingling but mostly enjoying.

New Year, New Beginnings! An SPCA Kid's Event

On  Saturday, January 23rd, kids of all ages are invited to the Victoria SPCA located at 3150 Napier Lane. Guided shelter tours will be held every 1/2 hour from 1:00-3:00pm and there will be ongoing activities in the gym, including new crafts and games. Parent attendance is required.

January's Kid's Day theme is  NEW YEAR, NEW BEGININGS. It will focus on animals at the SPCA now who need a second chance and animals who  were given a fresh start after arriving at the SPCA. It will also focus attention on some common myths and mistakes that people make in regards to animal care and welfare.

Kids will be able to:

  • Help shelter animals find a home;
  • Make buttons;
  • Meet some of our special animals at the SPCA;
  • Make cool crafts to take home;
  • Take a guided tour of the shelter
  • Enter to win cool prizes
  • Meet other kids who are interested in animals
  • Play games
  • Learn about upcoming kids activities at the SPCA.

Looking for something to do over your holiday break? Come to the Victoria SPCA and Make a Big Difference for Small Animals. 

On Tuesday Dec 29th, the SPCA in Victoria will be hosting a full-day small animal care workshop from 9 am to 3 pm.

At the workshop you will: 

- meet small animals at the SPCA (that could include rats, hamsters, degus, chinchillas, rabbits and birds);

- work on special projects to help the small animals (enrich habitats, make toys and treats);

- make cool crafts to take home; 

- find out what kind of small pet is right for you;

- learn how to enrich and improve the lives of your pets at home; 

- learn how to help small animals in your community;

- meet other kids who are interested in animals;

- learn about upcoming kids activities at the SPCA.

There is a $30 fee for this workshop. Adult supervision and supplies are provided. Bring a lunch, a snack and water, and dress to make a mess! Please use the gym entrance at the back of the shelter (3150 Napier Lane).

The registration deadline for this unique and fun workshop is Dec. 24. Hurry because space is limited!
