BC SPCA summer camps empower youth by encouraging empathy and compassion

The BC SPCA is offering week-long summer camps which feature fun animal-themed activities for kids while empowering them to create a better world. Camps will be offered this year in Victoria at the Burnside Campus, 3130 Jutland Road.

New book to help Victoria shelter animals

Photographed and written by Victoria BC SPCA volunteer, Wendy Nesbitt, the book offers a sneak peek into the lives and welfare of animals in a shelter that not only looks after them but offers them a Home Away From Home. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book are donated to the BC SPCA Victoria branch's Friendly Neighbour Fund.

Brentwood Bay residents found guilty of animal cruelty in horse starvation case

December 13, 2011

Brentwood Bay residents David Whiffin and Clayton Cunningham were found guilty today in a shocking case of animal abuse in which they starved their 27-year-old Appaloosa gelding named Jalupae to the point of emaciation and then hung the animal to death by tying him with ropes to an excavator on a waterfront acreage in Brentwood Bay.
