Local news

Marlow came to the BC SPCA Chilliwack Branch initially when he was found abandoned in a basement suite when his owner moved away. A sad story that happens more often than many would think, Marlow was lucky enough to be found thanks to a diligent landlord.

After being given a clean bill of health and some grooming Marlow was transferred to the BC SPCA West Vancouver Branch through the Drive for Lives program to help maximize his chances for adoption. Here he thrived, although shy at first he would warm up quite quickly once he knew he was about to receive some affection.

A month later a woman came in and found him to be exactly what she was looking for and brought him home with her. Marlow has since had his name changed, has made a new doggy friend, and is enjoying the lap of luxury as described below.

Hello,

On March 8, 2012, I adopted a wonderful 8 yr. old DLH cat from the West Vancouver SPCA. His name was Marlow but has since been changed to Murphy O'Malley. This handsome boy is absolutely wonderful. He is the most loving, cuddly cat I have ever seen.

Murphy will sit on my chest or shoulder and purr loudly while nuzzling my neck for 10-15 minutes. He loves to bump noses with me. When you bend over to pet him he tries to climb up on your shoulder for a cuddle.

This boy was a bit shy at first and spent 3 days hiding under my futon but now he is is all over the house. Murphy enjoys playing with his cat dancer, loves to be groomed and to sit in the window. He always uses his litter and his scratching post. It has taken a bit of time to get used to the type of canned food he likes but now I believe we are in sync.

My entire family has really taken to this fine boy. It took Murphy about a week to get used to my dog but now they are just fine together and compete for space on our laps. He is also very friendly with guests to our home.

This is the second senior cat I have adopted and I can tell you that they make wonderful additions to the family.

Sincerely,
Maureen

Thank you Maureen, for taking notice of all that senior cats have to offer, and for making adoption your first option.
