Oh Those Dirty Dogs

Another season of dog washes at the BC SPCA West Vancouver Branch came to a close on September 25, 2001 when the last wash of the year was held, and what a successful year it was! The kick-off for the season was on May 29 with 45 dogs lined up for the tub!

The June 26 wash was a very special one with four West Van firefighters onboard to help out.  Fraser Ray, Mark Wilkinson, Kevin Williams and Gary Yuen volunteered their time, on their day off, to lend a hand (and their strong backs!) lifting 34 heavy pooches into the sink.  More than just dogs were drooling at this event!

On July 30, the Whole Foods store at Park Royal South held their annual dog wash with all proceeds ($1,232) going to the BC SPCA West Vancouver Branch.

Another well-attended wash was held at the shelter on August 28.  All in all a grand total of $4,092 was raised through these dog washes to benefit the animals at the West Van shelter!

Kudos to Whole Foods for being such a great supporter of the BC SPCA and other charities in our community!

Kudos to the West Van firefighters for being first responders when they heard about our need for volunteers for the June wash!

And huge kudos to the shelter's team of volunteers who give willingly and cheerfully of their time to help out at shelter events!

Check out the BC SPCA West Vancouver Branch website and Facebook in the spring of 2012 for news of upcoming dog washes!
