Long journey home for one lucky dog

“Suki” (whose real name is Pollux) has quite a “tail” to tell.
The Kamloops BC SPCA received the Lab cross as a stray on June 30 from a Good Samaritan who found her a few weeks previously and cared for her. On arrival at the SPCA, Suki was checked for ID and her microchip was traced to a veterinary clinic in Quebec — and Suki’s owner. Suki’s family was overjoyed to hear that their dog, who went missing from Montreal over a year ago, had been found.
Through the generosity of a grant from SPCA International, Suki will soon be flying to Montreal to rejoin her family.
“This is an amazing story. We have no idea how Suki got to Kamloops from Quebec or what has happened to her over the last year — only she knows. We are happy to have had a small part in reuniting Suki with her family and are ecstatic to be sending her home,” says BC SPCA Kamloops branch acting branch Manager Sarah Gerow. The BC SPCA Kamloops Branch reminds everyone to have some permanent identification on your pets, such as a tattoo or microchip.
“Without Suki having a microchip, we would not have been able to find her family.”
