Several of the 94 cats and kittens seized by the BC SPCA on August 10th from a Nanaimo-area animal hoarder are now ready for adoption. The sick and neglected cats have been receiving care at various Vancouver Island SPCA shelters.
BC SPCA Const. Tina Heary, who led the investigation, says some of the cats and kittens will require further veterinary care, but many are ready for new, loving homes. She noted that none of the cats will be returned to their former owner.
The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
