BC SPCA officials and local dignitaries gathered in Kamloops today for the official opening the BC SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic, a major initiative that will save thousands of animal lives in Kamloops and surrounding regions.
"We are so pleased to launch the new clinic on Tranquille Road," said Craig Daniell, chief executive officer of the BC SPCA. "It is clear from the disproportionately high number of puppies and kittens we receive at our Kamloops shelter that this region is facing a pet overpopulation crisis," he said. Kamloops is one of the BC SPCA's busiest branches, taking nearly 2,500 abandoned, abused, injured and surrendered animals each year. Daniell said the BC SPCA is confident that the new SPCA clinic will significantly reduce this number.
The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
