THE BRITISH COLUMBIA SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
Our mission: To protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.

 January 31, 2014

So you’ve given up on your New Year’s resolution to work out five days a week and never let sugar touch your lips again. Don’t feel bad – the BC SPCA has a sweet way you can channel your energies into saving animal lives.

Why not “bake” a difference for the second annual National Cupcake Day™ for SPCAs and Humane Societies, taking place Feb. 24, an event that helps animals across Canada? It takes very little time and it’s tasty, too.

National Cupcake Day™ is the first-ever collaborative fundraising effort supporting animal welfare societies across Canada. It’s easy and delicious to participate:

  1. Register your participation online;

  2. Plan a cupcake party at work, home or school;

  3. Start fundraising by encouraging friends and family to donate online in advance;

  4. Bake your favourite cupcakes;

  5. Share them with family and friends and collect donations to prevent cruelty to animals.

All proceeds will support furry friends, big and small, who have been abused or abandoned, or are in need of help. To register or to find more information, please visit nationalcupcakeday.ca.

Kristina Matisic, co-host of Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag, is a celebrity Cupcake Crusader for the event in B.C.

“Everyone knows I love chocolate, baking and my dog, Ruby. National Cupcake Day™ is an ideal way to bring them all together in one feel-good activity,” she says. “As a longtime supporter of the BC SPCA, I encourage everyone to whip up a batch of cupcakes and feed your body, your soul and your friends with treats that make a difference!”

The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a not-for-profit organization reliant on public donations. Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.
