Lineups of animal lovers showed up at the TELUS Garden building in Vancouver for Cupcakes and Cuddles, a pop-up BC SPCA event, on Thursday.
Featuring sweet treats and adoptable canines and animals ambassadors, the event supports National Cupcake Day™, which raises funds for SPCAs and humane societies – and the abused, neglected and injured animals they help – across Canada.
“It was a pretty sweet way to raise funds – I think the dogs had just as much, if not more, fun than all the animal lovers who showed up – and the cupcakes were delicious,” says spokesperson and cupcake crusader Kristina Matisic.
Last year, Canadians raised more than $615,000 through National Cupcake Day™ by making cupcakes and giving them away in exchange for donations.
Since the campaign’s inception in 2013, $1.85 million has been raised, with proceeds going to participating SPCAs and humane societies across the country.
The British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a not-for-profit organization reliant on public donations. Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.
