Pollution, climate change, human encroachment...
Wildlife have to navigate many harms, including the impacts of direct or indirect and intentional or unintentional activities that can greatly affect their conservation and welfare.
In order to better understand public knowledge, beliefs and values about these issues, the BC SPCA is helping the University of British Columbia reach B.C. residents to participate in a confidential survey on wild animals.
As an evidence-based organization, the BC SPCA relies on scientific and professional knowledge to make recommendations to government and animal industries on animal welfare policy. We also periodically use survey methodology to poll members of our community to inform our public positions on animal issues.
This survey is the latest in a series developed by UBC to investigate public attitudes on a variety of animal issues, including the use of pigs in organ transplant research and the use of mice and fish in biomedical research. Results of these previous surveys will be available soon.
These surveys are confidential and no personal contact information is required with the exception of an email (to prevent spammers). Go to http://www.yourviews.ubc.ca/ to register and then select “Wildlife Values Survey – Navigating Harm” to start. The deadline for participating is July 31st, 2010.
You can support our efforts to research. develop and administer meaningful programs to enhance and ensure the welfare of local wildlife through the BC SPCA's Monty Fund for Community Education and Outreach. Please donate today.
The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations.
