Webcast tickets now available for sold out Temple Grandin lecture at UBC November 10

October 21, 2011 update

In response to keen public interest and a sold-out venue, Dr. Temple Grandin’s presentation will be available live online from 7-8 p.m. PST Thursday, November 10. Tickets are now on sale for just $10 each. They can be purchased at spca.bc.ca/grandin.

A renowned animal welfare scientist and one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world, Dr. Grandin will speak about "Understanding the Animals in Your Life". Dr. Grandin is the subject of an acclaimed 2010 HBO biopic, Temple Grandin, which has garnered 18 film awards, including seven Emmys and a Golden Globe.

The November 10 event is generously sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal.

September 2, 2011 update

The BC SPCA is pleased to announce Dr. Temple Grandin will give a public presentation at the Frederic Wood Theatre, UBC, November 10 at 7:00 pm. Tickets go on sale online today at spca.bc.ca/grandin. Cost is $30 for adults (a $15 tax receipt will be issued for the charitable portion of the ticket); $15 for students.

A renowned animal welfare scientist and one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world, Dr. Grandin will speak about "Understanding the Animals in Your Life" followed by an extended Q & A during which audience members can ask questions about the animals in their lives.

One of the best known animal welfare authorities in the world, Dr. Grandin is the subject of an acclaimed 2010 HBO biopic, Temple Grandin, which has garnered 18 film awards, including seven Emmys and a Golden Globe. The November 10 event is generously sponsored by BMO Bank of Montreal.

The subject of an award-winning 2010 biopic based on her life’s work with animals, Dr. Temple Grandin has now gained recognition among a larger audience for her abilities to understand animal emotions.  

On November 10, the BC SPCA will host Dr. Grandin for a one-night-only engagement in Vancouver.  Temple will share her insights into the minds and emotions of cats, dogs and horses.

Temple Grandin has written several books, including the bestsellers Animals Make Us Human and Animals in Translation, drawing on her experience as a person with autism and her research on the connection between animals and the autistic brain. Her sage advice on how to best provide for animals is shared with farmers, ranchers and guardians of pets alike. Dr. Grandin continues to be an influential leader on animal welfare the world over.
