Wildlife photography winners announced

 March 1, 2010

Between Jun. 1 and Aug. 31, 2009, Wild ARC, the society's wild animal rehabilitation centre on Vancouver Island, hosted Wildlife In Focus, a unique annual wildlife photography contest showcasing the community's best shutterbugs.

"We live in an area that is rich with wildlife," says Sara Dubois, the BC SPCA's manager of wildlife services. "Despite the encroachment of urban development, animals inhabit and in fact sometimes thrive in every backyard, beach and park."

The first place winners from our three categories: wild settings, backyard settings and youth are listed below.

The BC SPCA's Highest Priority Needs Fund supports all that we do to help animals in need of care and protection including sheltering, medical attention, spay and neutering, rehabilitation, adoption, foster care, advocacy, education, and rescue. Donations to this fund also help the BC SPCA rescue and rehabilitate wildlife on Vancouver Island through it's Wild ARC facility. Donate today.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
