BC SPCA Community Animal Spay/Neuter Grant

The BC SPCA Community Animal Spay/Neuter Grant helps communities working to systematically address community cat population growth and support remote communities through increased access to spay and neuter in British Columbia.

The BC SPCA is prioritizing Northern BC for our 2024 granting cycle. Organizations with capacity to oversee TNR (Trap Neuter Release) and First Nations communities located in Northern BC can apply for funding. Please see below for the 2024 program guide for a map of the region and more information.

We fund the following types of projects:

  • Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR): Free roaming cats, defined as intact neighbourhood or community-fed cats, abandoned cats, unfriendly or feral cats living in cat groups, where there are one or more caretakers.
  • Cats and Dogs on First Nation Land: Owned and unowned cats that are cared for by owners/guardians in a First Nation community. This portion of the program is open only to First Nation governments or rescues that are partnered with First Nations governments and include a letter of support in their applications.

2024 Application Process – Now Closed

The application process has been changed to better support communities and organizations wishing to apply for a grant. Our past written grant application process is being replaced by a 30-minute interview with Outreach staff to learn about your planned spay/neuter project and community need. Interviews can be booked at the link below. Applicants will then complete a short application form and successful applicants will be contacted via e-mail.

Funding will be distributed in order of interviews done and applications received. Once all the funding has been allocated, the application process will be closed.

If you have questions, please contact us at spayneuter@spca.bc.ca.
