For the last eleven years, Nanaimo volunteer Audrey Aquino has operated and administered the branch’s extremely successful donation can program. Audrey, also a member of the Nanaimo Community Council, diligently makes her rounds through the city, placing and picking up cans and counting and rolling coins for deposit. Recently, this one-woman program reached an amazing $100,000 mark – all towards the care and protection of thousands of animals.
Audrey’s amazing achievement would not be possible without the thousands of unknown donors as well as local businesses who have supported the program and she would like to share this honour with them.
She is an incredible ambassador for the BC SPCA and Audrey’s commitment to the animals is an inspiration to us all. We celebrate her this month and encourage branches to name homeless animals in her honour. Thank you!
