Our mission: To protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.
Several years ago Dorothy Ruby established the Dorothy and Carl Ruby Charitable Foundation. The purpose of this foundation was to provide annual funding to various charities that were closest to Dorothy and her late husband Carl.
Carl Ruby was an entrepreneur in the frozen food industry – founding Buy Low Foods in Vancouver – and together Dorothy and Carl Ruby enjoyed their successful career, travel and retirement.
Animals were of special interest and concern to Dorothy, who thought the animals were often overlooked by those able to make charitable donations.
The very significant gift to the BC SPCA will be used in the area of greatest need across the province. In this way, the Rubys' final gift will leave a legacy of caring and compassion for the animals.
